The family to which Jonathan MAY belonged came from Bedford County, PA to the old MAY home near this village, in 1828. There were fourteen members of the family: father, mother and twelve children. The one whom we are about to lay to rest, was a child in the third year of his age, having been born in 1825, and who, at his decease, was in his 69th year. In 1851, Jonathan MAY and Margaret BUSHEY were married and established their home where he died, the 9th day of May, 1894; where their children, seven in number, were born, and were for 43 years in this home. ... The funeral was attended by a large concourse of relatives and friends of the deceased. Services were held in the M.E. Church conducted by Rev H. PLACE assisted by Rev M.L. WILHELM. The remains were laid to rest in Oakland (Shelby, OH) cemetery.
